• Types of SCM Demister Pad/Mist Eliminators for Oil and Gas Industry

Wet scrubbers are a wonderful alternative for air pollution control since they provide a controlled, effective solution for removing undesired air contaminants. Organic and inorganic pollutants, including those that cause illness, deplete ozone, or alter ecosystems, can be removed.

Dry or wet industrial air scrubbers are available for removing pollutants. Wet scrubbers use liquid solvents to remove pollutants, whilst dry scrubbers employ solid materials. Both clean industrial exhaust streams of gas contaminants and smells. Wet scrubbers, on average, achieve a higher level of pollutant removal than dry scrubbers. They’re essential for industrial manufacturing and wastewater treatment facilities because they prevent pollutants from entering the atmosphere. Wet air scrubbers of various forms and constructions may be used by any industry that produces air pollutants.

S Cube Mass Transfer Pvt Ltd manufactures all three primary types of mist eliminators: Mesh mist eliminator, Vane mist eliminator, and Fibre bed mist eliminator.

Each is best suited for a specific type of application, either alone or in combination with another.

SCM Wire Mesh Mist Eliminator:-

The most frequent type of mist eliminator is the wire mesh mist eliminator. They are inexpensive to install and give excellent separation efficiency. Typically, these mist eliminators are formed up of many compacted layers of metal wire or thermoplastic held together by support grids. They perform well in a variety of conditions and can be set up in vertical or horizontal airflow configurations. Dirty air is forced through the wire mesh mist eliminator, where the droplets condense and continue to push the now-clean air to the outlet. Direct interception, inertial impaction, and Brownian diffusion are used to remove the droplets from the polluted air. Mist eliminators made of wire mesh have a high separation efficiency and inexpensive installation costs. They’re made up of several, compacted layers of thermoplastic or metal wire, and they work well for a variety of gas/liquid separation applications. The major variables to consider while specifying a wire mesh pad are wire diameter, surface area, mesh thickness, and interfacial surface tension between the fibre and the collected liquid.

SCM Fibre Bed Mist Eliminator:-

Some industrial operations produce finer droplets than can’t be contained by a Composite Mesh Pad Mist Eliminator. Fibre Bed Mist Eliminators are one alternative worth considering. Fine fibres and a notion known as diffusion or Brownian motion are used in these devices. Before it reaches the outlet, the particle will hit the medium. This is due to the media’s density and the air stream’s velocity. The liquid congeals in the fibres and drains to the bottom.

SCM Vane Mist Eliminator:-

Vane mist eliminators, also known as chevron type demister pads and droplet separators, are made up of a series of zigzag chevron blades spaced at specific intervals. Metal and high-performance plastic materials are offered. The most common materials are stainless steel and polypropylene (PP). Internals of the vane type is particularly common and useful for liquid separation from gas. According to their design and shape, these varieties can eliminate droplets larger than 8 microns.

The resulting centrifugal forces divide the mist droplets, which accumulate on the vane blades. This formed liquid layer is subsequently drained to a liquid sump, from where it drains to the vessel’s liquid compartment through openings or pockets.

Mist eliminators are a great addition to wet scrubbers since they help clean contaminated air better. The three types of mist eliminators can be customised to fit your wet scrubber system’s demands. Mesh mist eliminators are affordable and effective in filtering out small particles.
